20-Year-Old Construction Worker Found Dead in Cebu City Warehouse, Suspected Suicide
A 20-year-old man employed as a truck boy at a construction company was found dead by hanging in a warehouse on President Quirino Street, Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City yesterday morning at 6:00 a.m. Authorities suspect suicide as the cause of death.
The victim, a native of Barangay Timobo, Danao City, was discovered hanging from a backhoe inside the warehouse where he worked. A coworker attempting to wake him noticed his absence and upon checking the warehouse, found him lifeless.
The coworker recounted, "I was surprised he was not at his usual spot when I went to take a bath. When I checked the warehouse, I found him hanging on the backhoe and he was already dead."
It was noted that the victim had recently been transferred to this warehouse after being reassigned from a construction site in Consolacion around two weeks ago.
Prior to his death, the young man shared a farewell message on his social media account addressed to his family, saying, "To my parents, I hope you find happiness. I want to rest now. Take care always, Ma, and to my siblings, I hope you are well. That’s all, God bless."
Friends and colleagues believe the deceased was experiencing family and relationship issues, as he was reportedly recently separated from his partner.
The case is currently under investigation by the local authorities.
