Marikina Lawmaker Denies Sexual Assault Allegations from Former Security Officers

Marikina First District Representative Marcelino Teodoro has categorically denied recent allegations of sexual misconduct and assault lodged by two female police officers who previously served as his close-in security detail at different periods.

In an official statement, Teodoro described the claims as "malicious and unfounded," asserting that they are aimed at damaging his reputation. He also suggested that the accusations appear to be politically driven attacks.

"The accusations against me are malicious and false," Teodoro stated. "Their allegations have no basis and are just meant to ruin my reputation."

Teodoro further revealed that he has yet to receive copies of the formal complaints.

The Department of Justice (DoJ), represented by Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano, confirmed that the submitted complaints will undergo thorough legal scrutiny to determine if there is adequate evidence to warrant a preliminary investigation. Clavano refrained from disclosing the identities of the complainants, citing privacy and security concerns.

Meanwhile, the Marikina City Police Office announced that the two involved female officers have been reassigned to the Philippine National Police national headquarters at Camp Crame to ensure their protection.

"The Marikina City Police fully respects due process and upholds the rule of law," Marikina Police chief Col. Michael Astrera said in a separate release.

The Women and Children Protection Center of the Philippine National Police is coordinating with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group regarding the case’s progress.

"An allegation cannot be considered evidence," Teodoro emphasized.

The Department of Justice reiterated its commitment to impartiality, confirming that the case will be pursued strictly based on available evidence and in accordance with the law.
