Senate Orders Detention of Contractor and Engineer Over Bulacan Flood Project Irregularities

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has mandated the detention of contractor Pacifico "Curlee" Discaya and dismissed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara following allegations of dishonesty under oath related to irregularities in flood control projects in Bulacan.

The decision was made during the Senate hearing on Thursday after senators determined that both Discaya and Alcantara repeatedly provided false statements concerning their participation in questionable activities surrounding the projects.

Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Sen. Panfilo Lacson approved the motion initiated by Sen. Raffy Tulfo to detain both individuals, with support from Sen. Erwin Tulfo.

During the hearing, Discaya refuted claims that he employed a fixer to facilitate the registration of luxury vehicles. Meanwhile, Alcantara consistently denied involvement in any anomalies tied to the Bulacan flood control initiatives.

The actions reflect ongoing efforts by the Senate to hold accountable those allegedly responsible for mismanagement and corruption in vital infrastructure undertakings.
