US Special Operations Intercept Military Cargo En Route to Iran Near Sri Lanka
In a recent operation in the Indian Ocean, a US special operations team intercepted a ship traveling from China to Iran and seized military-related items, according to US officials. The vessel was boarded several hundred miles off Sri Lanka's coast during the raid. The confiscated cargo reportedly contained components potentially usable in Iran’s conventional weapons programs. Officials confirmed that the shipment was destroyed to prevent its delivery. After the seizure and destruction of the materials, the ship was permitted to continue its journey. This action reflects ongoing US efforts to curtail the transfer of military goods that could enhance Iran’s armed capabilities.
