PAGASA Warns of Possible Tropical Cyclones Approaching Philippines in December
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning for Filipinos to remain watchful as December may bring one or two tropical cyclones into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The announcement came on Monday, highlighting the potential for weather disturbances during the holiday period.
"This December, we expect one to two tropical cyclones to form or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility," stated PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina during an early morning briefing.
Currently, PAGASA is closely observing a cluster of clouds located in the eastern part of the PAR. Although it has yet to develop into a storm, experts indicate that this system may transform into a low-pressure area and could cross into Philippine territory in the coming days.
If this weather disturbance intensifies into a tropical cyclone, it would register as the 23rd storm to impact the country in 2023 and will be locally named "Wilma." Officials urge the public to stay updated with official weather reports as the situation evolves.
